LOGANTON, PA – The District IV High School Football playoffs will have some outstanding football games lined up for Friday night.
In Class A, a rematch between Bloomsburg (8-2) and South Williamsport (9-1) will lead to an eventual winner at Rodney K. Morgans Stadium in South Williamsport on Friday. The winner of that contest will face either Line Mountain (8-2) or Southern Columbia (10-0) in Catawissa on Friday night. A possible South Williamsport vs. Southern Columbia rematch could occur next week in Catawissa.
In Class AA, Friday night will have some spectacular games for fans to enjoy. Loyalsock Township (5-5) will travel to Danville (8-2) and face the Ironmen. Christy Mathewson Memorial Stadium, on the campus of Bucknell University, will have the Warriors of Montoursville (7-3) facing off against the Green Dragons of Lewisburg (8-2). Carmen DeFrancesca’s Mount Carmel (6-4) Red Tornadoes, makes another playoff appearance; as they face the Blue Jays of Central Columbia (7-3) in Bloomsburg. While, the Northern Tier top two teams square off against one another with the Trojans of Troy (8-2) and the Wildcats of Athens (8-2) in another rematch game.
In Class AAA, the Indians of Shamokin (2-8) travels to Selinsgrove (7-3) and faces the Seals. While, the Black Panthers of Milton (6-4) makes it back to the playoffs with a home field advantage against the Braves of Shikellamy (5-5) in a hard – fought rematch coming for both teams.
Meanwhile, though located in District IV; the Berwick Bulldogs (9-1) will host Dallas (7-3) at the dog pound in Berwick, this Saturday afternoon at 1pm. This is George Curry’s return to the playoffs since coming back to Berwick, after coaching at Wyoming Valley West and being an analyst with WNEP TV in Scranton.
Williamsport Millionaires (0-10) being the only Class AAAA school in the district for now, will sit back at home and watch all of the other District II & XI schools fight it out for supremacy.
In District VI, the Central Mountain Wildcats (5-5) are getting ready to face the Little Lions of State College (7-3) this Friday night at Memorial Stadium in State College. Fans are advised to get there early for a seat, due to issues at the stadium.
