Lady Wildcats Softball Team Loses Doubleheader

WILLIAMSPORT, PA – The Pennsylvania College of Technology softball team lost 13-0 and 3-0 to Penn State Beaver Sunday. Beaver pitcher Korey Freyermuth recorded both wins, pitching a five-inning no-hitter in game two and giving up only two hits total in both games. Freshmen Britni Fennell (Conyngham) and Cora Bova (Port Allegany) recorded the only hits for the Wildcats. They now fall to 1-15 overall and 0-6 in the Penn State University Athletic Conference. LORETTO, PA – Behind a massive offensive explosion, the Saint Francis University softball team took a Northeast Conference doubleheader from Monmouth Sunday afternoon at Red Flash Field by the finals of 7-3 and 14-4. Monmouth (11-11, 3-5 NEC) struck first in the opening game with a leadoff homerun by Christine Scherr to right center but the Red Flash (14-12, 4-2 NEC) brought home two runners in their half of the first to take a 2-1 lead early on. Penn State – Altoona Scores a Perfect Game

HAMBURG, NY – Penn State – Altoona softball’s 17-0 and 23-5 victories over Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference opponent Hilbert College on Saturday were impressive, but they were upstaged by perfection. In game one of the doubleheader, junior pitcher Jackie Smith (Hollidaysburg, PA/Hollidaysburg) threw a perfect game. She pitched five innings, allowing no runs, hits, or walks while striking out seven of the 15 batters she faced.
