LOCK HAVEN, PA – Clarion senior middle hitter Rebecca Webb is the PSAC West women’s volleyball Player of the Week after helping the Golden Eagles to a 4-0 record over the weekend.
Webb hit .439 (44 kills, 8 errors, 82 attempts) during the perfect week, which helped Clarion improve to a 19-3 overall and 9-0 in the PSAC West. It is tied for the best start in school history after 22 matches.
Averaging 2.93 kills per set while adding 14 blocks (0.93 per set), four digs, three service aces and two set assists, Webb led Clarion to wins over the top two teams in the PSAC East, Lock Haven (3-2) and Shippensburg (3-0), as well as victories over East Stroudsburg (3-0) and Millersville (3-1) at a PSAC Crossover hosted by the Golden Eagles.
She had 19 kills and four blocks while hitting .500 (19-3-32) in the victory over Lock Haven Friday and added a second .500 hitting match (10-1-18) to go with two digs and a block vs. Shippensburg Saturday. She also had 10 kills, five blocks and two digs in the victory over Millersville Saturday and five kills, four blocks and two digs in the win over East Stroudsburg Friday.
On the season, Webb is second in the PSAC in hitting percentage at .378 (190-35-410) while tying for second on the the team with 2.50 kills per set and ranking second in blocks per set with 0.92 (70 total blocks). She has added 38 digs, 21 service aces and eight set assists.
A key four-year player for Clarion, Webb ranks fourth in career hitting percentage at Clarion (.285) while ranking sixth in blocks (417) and 16th in kills (845). Her 141 blocks in 2009 are the 15th most in a season in school history.
Clarion returns to action with a pair of key matches over the weekend. The Golden Eagles are at California at 7 p.m. Friday before traveling to IUP for a 2 p.m. match Saturday.
