Antonelli Lands Second Commonwealth Conference Player of the Week Award

WILLIAMSPORT, PA – A pair of double-figure scoring efforts to lead the Lycoming College women’s basketball team to two wins has helped junior Julia Antonelli (Hanover, Pa./New Oxford) land her second career Commonwealth Conference Player of the Week award, the conference office in Annville, Pa., announced on Monday, Dec. 10.

The 5-10 guard/forward led the Warriors to a pair of critical Commonwealth Conference wins, averaging 15.5 points, 8.0 rebounds and 1.5 assists last week. She finished with 19 points and 12 rebounds in the team’s first win, a 72-64 triumph over Elizabethtown. She led the team to the come-from-behind win as the Warriors scored the last 16 points of the game, with Antonelli drawing a huge charge with less than five minutes left that helped spur the comeback.

She also added a game-high 12 points on a perfect 5-of-5 from the floor to lift the Warriors to a 66-55 win over Arcadia, moving within five points of becoming the 26th player in school history to reach 600 career points.

Antonelli also earned the award on Monday, Dec. 5, 2011, after helping the Warriors to a pair of conference wins against Albright and Alvernia.

The Warriors get back on the court on Friday, Dec. 14, when they face Messiah in a Commonwealth Conference doubleheader. The women face the No. 8 Falcons at 2 p.m. and the men will face off in a 4 p.m. rematch of the 2012 Commonwealth Conference championship game.
