Oropollo Earns MAC Swimmer of the Week Honors

WILLIAMSPORT, PA – Lycoming College senior Nate Oropollo (Aldan, Pa./Cardinal O’Hara) has won his third Middle Atlantic Conference weekly award and first for his efforts in the pool, as his help in winning three events against Messiah has helped him earn the MAC’s Swimmer of the Week award, the conference office in Annville, Pa., announced on Monday, Dec. 10.

Oropollo had a solid performance in his fourth week with the team while helping the Warriors to a 155-105 win over Messiah on Saturday. Serving as the anchor of the winning team in both relays, he started the meet with a 21.44 split, the fastest in the race, to lead the Warriors to the 200-yard medley win in 1:40.15, and finished it with a split of 50.79 in the 400-yard freestyle relay to lead Warriors to a 3.64 second win. In between, he posted a 22.20 time to win the 50-yard freestyle relay in a career-best time.

The meet was a perfect end to the week for the dual-sport athlete, as he also was named to the D3football.com All-East Region Second Team as a defensive end during the week.

The Cardinal O’Hara graduate won his first MAC weekly award on the gridiron in an upset win over Delaware Valley, posting four sacks to help him earn MAC Defensive Player of the Week and D3football.com Team of the Week honors. He also posted six tackles and two sacks to earn MAC Defensive Player of the Week honors against FDU-Florham.

Oropollo joins freshman Kyle Garase (Finleyville, Pa./Ringgold), who has won three MAC Swimmer of the Week awards this season.

The Warriors get back in the pool on Saturday, Jan. 12, when they head to Lebanon Valley for a 1 p.m. Middle Atlantic Conference dual meet.
