WILLIAMSPORT, PA – Trevor Karasiewicz started the scoring for his Outlaws with a short-handed goal, which happened to be his first goal of the season, to help lead the Outlaws to a 5-2 victory over the Cape Cod Bluefins.
The first period saw three tallies, two from the Outlaws and one from the Bluefins. Aftre Karasiewicz goal, Cape Cod was able to tie the game at the 8:33 mark when Kevin McCready beat Chris Whitley. Matt Smyth was able to get the Outlaws back on with a goal from Karasiewicz, his league leading 14th assist, and Martin Moucha at the 9:25 mark of the period.
Smyth would start the scoring for the Outlaws in the second period with his 10th goal of the season at the 3:47 mark to give the Outlaws a 3-1 lead. The Outlaws never surrenders the lead after that point. Chris Campanale would make it 3-2 after finding the empty net at the 5:41 mark of the period. After that goal, Chris Whitley would not surrender another goal.
The Outlaws however, would add two more goals of their own. The first of the two when Jeff Winchester scored his second goal as an Outlaw to make it 4-2 at the 11:36 mark and Chris Leveille capped the scoring at the 18:20 mark from Rob Sich.
Chris Whitley would end the night with 34 saves on 36 Bluefins shots. The Outlaws peppered Scott Barchard, who made 46 saves on 51 shots faced.
Williamsport out shot the Bluefins 40-19 through two periods of play, averaging a shot per minute.
Winchester has had at least one point in his first three games with the Outlaws. Matt Smyth has had at least one point in his last nine games. Trevor Karasiewicz leads the FHL with 14 assists and leads the team with 15 points.
The Outlaws faceoff against the Danbury Whalers tomorrow night at Airmen Pond at Historic Bowman Field in Williamsport.
