LHU Womens Soccer Wins Fourth Straight

LOCK HAVEN, PA  – Jenna Hunter (Marietta, Pa./Donegal) broke a scoreless tie midway through the second half that proved to be enough as the Lock Haven University women’s soccer team shutout Shippensburg University (3-4-3, 1-4-2 PSAC) 1-0 today at Hubert Jack Stadium.

Lock Haven (5-3, 2-4 PSAC) held the majority of the scoring chances in the first half, outshooting the Red Raiders 7-4, but were unable to find the net in the period.

Hunter finally broke the scoreless tie in the 64th minute when she fired a free kick from 21 yards out that hit the far post, bounced off the crossbar and into the back of the net to give The Haven a 1-0 lead.

Haven goalkeeper Dana Wozniak (Blackstone, Mass./Mount St. Charles Academy) made four saves in the game to preserve the shutout.

LHU has now not allowed a goal in the past two games.

The Lady Eagles have now won four straight matches at Hubert Jack Stadium and are 4-1 on their home turf this season.

Lock Haven will be right back in action tomorrow (Saturday, Sept. 29) when they host California (Pa.) in a PSAC matchup.  Kickoff is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
