WILLIAMSPORT, PA – After earning two all-conference honors as a goalkeeper at New England College, Nick Acquaviva has been hired as an assistant coach with the Lycoming College men’s lacrosse program, head coach Todd Hodgson announced on Tuesday, Dec. 11.
“Nick will be a great addition to our program,” Hodgson said. “I believe our young defense and goalies will benefit from tremendously from his help.”
Acquaviva was a four-year starter for the Pilgrims and earned back-to-back all-conference honors, taking honorable mention honors from The Commonwealth Coast Conference as a junior and second team accolades from the North Atlantic Conference as a senior.
“I am excited to start my coaching career at Lycoming, a school that has shown great success over the last decade and a half,” Acquaviva said. “I hope my hard work will help the Warriors continue that success.”
Acquaviva paced the Pilgrims to 37 wins in his five years at New England College, including a redshirt year in 2010, and he capped it by helping the team to the NAC title as a senior, as he made 11 saves in the NAC championship game, an 18-7 win over Castleton State. He was named the NAC Tournament MVP.
Acquaviva finished his career with 73 starts, 775 saves – 20th in NCAA Division III history – and a .586 save percentage.
After his junior year, Acquaviva was also selected to participate in the NCAA Career in Sports Forum in Indianapolis.
Originally from Syracuse, N.Y., Acquaviva earned a Bachelor of Science in physical education from New England College in 2011. He resides in Williamsport.
The Warriors finished the 2012 season by making the postseason for the fifth straight year before falling to Widener in the Commonwealth Conference semifinals to finish 7-8 overall and 4-2 in the league under third-year coach Hodgson.
