Outlaws Lose To Thousand Islands, 8-3

WATERTOWN, NY – Tyler Matheson left Wednesday night’s game with blood pouring down his face after he fought Chase Tippin in the third period, but Matheson would find the twine for the first time this season in the Outlaws 8-3 loss to the 1000 Island Privateers.

Matheson’s goal came unassisted at the :49 mark of the 3rd period after he intercepted a clearing attempt at the blue line, pick his spot and delivered a rocket over the glove of Matt Anthony. The goal cut into the Privateers lead.

The Privateers jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first period when Brent Tamane beat Chris Whitley at the 6:47 mark. The Outlaws would be held to eight shots in the period and held off the scoreboard.

1000 Islands would add on their lead in the second period with goals from Adam McAllister, Peter Campbell, Michael Fransen and two goals from Chris Greene to jump out to a 6-1 lead.

The Outlaws got on the board with a tally from Jeff Winchester at the 10:45 mark of the second period on the power play. Robert Sich and Matt Smyth picked up the assists on the goal for the Outlaws.

Sich would score his team high 12th goal of the season in the third period at the 15:36 mark. Nick Van Den Beld and Brett Needham were credited with the assists on the goal.

Mike DiLorenzo replaced Chris Whitley in the 3rd period, after Whitley allowed six goals on 31 shots faced through 40 minutes of play. DiLorenzo would turn away 10 Privateers shots on 12 total shots faced.

Matt Anthony made 31 saves on 34 shots faced in the winning effort.

In the loss Trevor Karasiewicz had his six-game point streak ended as he failed to gain a point in the loss.

The Outlaws will face the Danville Dashers Friday night at home under the lights of Airmen Pond at Historic Bowman Field.
