WILLIAMSPORT, PA – The upstart Williamsport Outlaws professional hockey team is starting to gel together as a “functional team” and with the success shown recently, looks to continue that trend for some time.
With the recent additions of Jeff Winchester (Dal Housie, MAN) and Kevin Cooper (Toronto, ON), it has made those constant strides toward success; start to show much faster for the members of the team that started the season out in Williamsport.
The recent injury to Dan McNeill (Scarborough, ON), that has sidelined him for the remainder of the season; has given some spark to his teammates to find that inner strength to rise above his setback and find other ways of winning games.
After last night’s performance by goaltender Chris Whitley, shutting out the other team was another area of finding a way to win; instead of just scoring goals by players such as Rob Sich (LaSalle, ON), Matthew Smyth (Orlando, FL), Jamie Zaleskie (Scranton, PA) and Nathan Oke (Lindsay, ON) have picked up the slack in providing offensive fire-power for the Outlaws.
Smyth just ended a 11 game scoring streak that gave fans something to cheer about after a slow start for the defending Federal Hockey League champions of 2012.
Head Coach Chris Firriolo keeps looking for the right formula of players in each shift to keep the legs of his team fresh all throughout the contest.
The fans are really starting to get into what the Outlaws are all about and are supporting the team at Airmen Pond at Historic Bowman Field. The team recently lowered ticket prices from $14 to $8 for an adult. Kids 5 and under can now get in for FREE.
The Outlaws front office has really made things interesting during the intermission periods with contests such as the Williamsport Sun – Gazette’s $25,000 Shoot Out and the Re Max / West Branch Real Estate’s Chuck – A – Puck contest.

n, the Outlaws are gearing up for the 1st Annual Federal Hockey League All Star Game at Airmen Pond at Historic Bowman Field, set for January 2, 2013. The Outlaws will face off against the All Stars from the other FHL league teams.
The activities planned so far include a luncheon, skills competition and more; including the game that evening.
