DANVILLE, IL – The Williamsport Outlaws won their fourth game in a row 9-6 against the Danville Dashers. The Outlaws were led by center and FHL points leader Trevor Karasiewicz who had a goal and 4 assists in the game.
Brett Needham opened the scoring 1:09 in to the first period. Needham’s snap shot goal beat Dashers goalie Jo St. Pierre glove side and was assisted by Chris Leveille and Rob Sich.
Matt Smyth put the Outlaws up by two at the 9:58 mark as Karasawiecz earned his first point of the night with a feed that sprung Smyth past two Dashers defenders.
Darick Ste Marie cut the lead in half, scoring his 7th goal of the season, after stealing the puck from Kevin Hamel and beating Williamsport goaltender Chris Whitley.
The game took a turn for the violent when Needham hit Dashers defenseman Lee McClure awkwardly in to the boards sparking a fight between Needham and Shawn McNulty.
The hit put the Dashers on the power play where they dented the net twice, off the sticks of David Lun and Ryan Stern. The power play was not without an issue as Leveille scored a short handed goal ending the period at a 3-3 tie.
The Outlaws were the only team to score in the second period, as goals from Karasawiecz and Sich put Williamsport ahead 5-3.
The wild third period saw the Outlaws take a 7-3 lead on goals from Moucha and Zaleski before Ste Marie scored a pair to cut the deficit to 7-5. Moucha added a second after scoring an empty netter to make it 8-5.
The Dashers attempted another come back late in the third when Jonathan Juliano scored with :51 seconds to go to cut the lead to 8-6.
The Outlaws capped the game off with a full ice, empty net goal from Jeff Winchester for a 9-6 final.
