INDIANAPOLIS – For the fourth straight year and the ninth time in the last 11 years, the Clarion University women’s volleyball team has qualified for the NCAA Division II playoffs.
The Golden Eagles (23-11) are seeded fourth in the Atlantic Region and will face fifth-seeded Lock Haven in the first round of the NCAA Division II Tournament Nov. 29 at Wheeling Jesuit. Clarion defeated Lock Haven 3-2 Oct. 5 at Clarion.
Clarion was the 2010 NCAA Division II Atlantic Region champions and became the first volleyball team in school history to advance to Elite Eight. The Golden Eagles were also PSAC and PSAC West champions that season. Last year, Clarion fell to 3-2 to Lock Haven in the first round of the NCAA Atlantic Region.
This season, the Golden Eagles have enjoyed their third 20-win season in the last four years and their 10th in the past 12 years.
NOTES – Six of the eight teams in the Atlantic Region are PSAC Schools including second-seeded Gannon, third-seeded California, sixth-seeded Shippensburg and seventh-seeded Mercyhurst. The top seed is Wheeling Jesuit and the eighth seed is Fayetteville St.
